It’s been over a year since The Beast tore through the area, and the Fort McMurray fire rebuild is in full swing. We headed up to Fort McMurray last week to capture some aerial footage of the rebuild, and have put together this quick video showing the progress in the Abasand, Beacon Hill, and Waterways neighbourhoods.
Growing up in Edmonton, I have fond memories of learning to ski at Snow Valley Ski Club. I can still remember gathering in the school gym before we got on the bus out to the hill, wondering what it was going to be like, and if I was going to transform into an Olympic ski jumper by the end of the lesson. That didn’t happen, but what did happen is now years later with this aerial video that I flew and shot for Snow Valley!
We recently completed a commercial aerial video that not only showed the scale of Stream-Flo’s outdoor operations, but also included some indoor flight!
This video was created to enhance Stream-Flo‘s global reach, and specifically for an upcoming European trade mission. As with many things, you can describe your operation all day long, but actually showing everyone is definitely the best way to market your business and operations!
Just a quick post to show off one of the photos I took last night at sunset, with the downtown Edmonton skyline visible behind a fiery red sky. I hoped for the entire sky to turn red, but looking at this now I appreciate that most of it stayed dark while the red concentrated on the horizon and clouds in the immediate vicinity. Enjoy!
Here is an interesting collaboration that we were a part of, where we supplied aerial footage for an entry into the Davines World Style Contest. We took care of the aerials, while Carmen Bachez and her team took care of the ground based shots and final edits. Take a look and let me know what you think!
With the current wildfire situation up in Fort McMurray and the surrounding area, it is critical that you observe the current no-fly zone around the emergency area. There are hundreds of first responders including police, fire, EMS, and the military, that are working hard in the area. To ensure their safety, NavCanada and Transport Canada have created a no-fly zone around the forest fire area affecting Fort McMurray. I have created the below overlay showing the current no-fly zone as of Thursday July 7, 2016 at 12:38pm local time (MDT). As an aerial photography industry member that is in the know, I will continue to update this map as I receive updated information on the Fort Mac no-fly zone.
The wildfire situation in Fort McMurray, Alberta is leaving us speechless. The sheer magnitude of this horrific event is still unknown, however everyone is bracing for the worst. With insurance companies already predicting damage to be in the billions, it is clear that this is an event unlike any other in this province.
After seeing the maternity photos that we shot a few weeks ago on the downtown Edmonton footbridge, the group behind Save Edmonton’s Downtown Footbridge contacted me and asked if there was anything we can do to promote their cause. After some brainstorming, the result is this beautiful aerial video!
